카를스루에 공대.. 이름이 안외워진다. 그냥 KIT라고만 외우고 있다가 막상 이름 말하려고 보면 혀가 막 꼬인다.

+ ) 카를스루에 공과 대학도 마찬가지로 합격 여부가 늦게 나온다. Application time이 늦어서 그런지 엄청 늦을 것 같다. 유럽인 기준 데드라인이 7월 15일이라는게 아니라, 비 유럽권 (비자 필요) 학생들의 데드라인이 7월 15일 이다. 와일드 하군.

원래 1825년 설립된 카를스루에 공과대학 + 1956년 핵 연구센터의 2009년 합병으로 탄생한 연구중심 대학. 독일 TU9 멤버이자 Helmholtz Association 소속 연구 기관.

학과 소개

• 학위/기간: M.Sc., 4학기(2년), 120 ECTS
• 입학 시기: 여름 & 겨울학기

1. 전공 심화 (Field of Specialization – 60 ECTS) 기초 과목(24–30 ECTS), 심화 모듈(27–30 ECTS), 실험/랩(6–9 ECTS) 포함
2. 선택 과목 (Electives – 24 ECTS) 다양한 EEIT 관련 과목 중 선택, 추가 실험/랩도 가능 .
3. 학제 간 역량 (6 ECTS): 예: 관리, 소프트 스킬 등 
4. Master’s Thesis (30 ECTS): 독립 연구 및 보고서 작성

 

EEIT

애증의 EEIT. 독일 석사 학위 중 내 학부와 가장 일치하기 때문에 내봤다. 다만, 지리적인 위치 때문에 합격 하더라도 잘 모르겠다... 또한, KIT의 경우 영어 과정과 독일어 과정이 따로 있다고 들어서 독일 현지인들과 같은 교육을 받고 싶은 나에게 큰 어필이 되지 않았다.

 

참고로 CS 는 theorical computer science 인지 뭔지 만족 못하면 칼같이 잘린다. 여름학기에 theorical computer science 를 두과목 수강하고 졸업한 나 역시 지원 자격 미달이라고 통보받았으니 인터뷰라도 볼 수 있지 않을까 원서 작성을 원하는 분들이라면 참고하여 지원하자.

지원 서류

• A Bachelor's degree or at least an equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology or a related degree program with essentially the same content at a university, university of applied sciences or university of cooperative education or at a foreign university. The program must have been completed within a standard period of study of at least three years and with a minimum number of 180 ECTS credits. In exceptional cases, the admissions commission may also recognize other engineering, information technology or physical and natural science programs

지원 방법

Selection Procedure

There are 180 places available each year, 108 in the winter semester and 72 in the summer semester. The available study places are allocated on the basis of a ranking list of applicants who meet the admission requirements.

 

Your place on the ranking list is determined by the sum of the following areas:

• The sum of all points you have received in the subject aptitude assessment, provided you meet the minimum requirements.
• If you have proven your professional aptitude without an interview, you will receive an additional 20 points.

정원이 매우 큰 학과인 듯 하다 +-+.. 이번에 지원한 브라운슈바이크 공대 CSE(40명), 이나 베를린 공대 SC(20-30명)는 겨울학기에만 지원이 가능한데, 대감집 학과라 그런지 KIT EEIT는 겨울학기에 108명이나 뽑는다고 나와있다.

역시 대감집!!

여름 및 겨울학기를 지원하면서 느낀점은, EE 나 CS 학과는 인기 학과라 그런지 겨울학기 뿐만 아니라, 여름학기에도 지원자를 뽑는다. 반면, CSE나 SC 등은 겨울학기만 뽑는다. 대감집은 다르구나..이게 컴싸의 위력인가 싶다.

 

Requirements.

• minimum knowledge and minimum achievements in the following areas:
  1. In previous studies, subject-specific minimum achievements must have been acquired that roughly correspond to those of the bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at KIT.
     • Advanced Mathematics: 14 CP
     • Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering: 19 CP. Particularly important is knowledge of linear electrical networks, electromagnetic fields, electromagnetic waves and electronic circuits
     • Digital Technology, Information Technology and Systems Engineering: 17 CP. Knowledge of digital technology, information technology, system dynamics and control engineering as well as signals and systems is particularly important.
  2. The selection commission decides on subject-specific suitability by awarding points for the following achievements (not identical to ECTS credit points):
     • Mathematics: up to 20 points
     • Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering: up to 20 points
     • Digital Technology, Information Technology and Systems Engineering: up to 20 points
     • Final grade of the bachelor's degree program: up to 20 points

If you have met the subject-specific minimum achievements (1.) and have gained at least 50 points (2.) from the content of your bachelor's degree program, you will take part in the selection process.

If you have met the subject-specific minimum achievements (1.) but your overall score is below 50 points (2.), you will be invited to an interview. The interview period will be published on the website of the KIT-Department before the application deadline so that you can plan ahead. The interview lasts approximately 20 minutes and takes place online in English. Up to 20 points can be earned in the interview. If you achieve at least 10, you will take part in the selection process.

여담으로, English 를 눌러도 options 가 독일어로 써있어서 처음 지원할 때 좀 화났다.

 

 

합격 발표

늦은 데드라인에 비해 합격 발표는 빨리 난 편이긴 하나, application status 가 intuitive 하지는 않음. evaluated -> admission pending 으로 바뀌고 그 후에 enrollment 서류들이 올라온 후에 다시 status가 바뀌었다는 이메일이 (총 3번..?4번..?) 왔다.

 

가족한테 합격했다고 말했는데 아무도 관심을 안준다. 이제 슬슬 석사 지원 도파민이 떨어질때가 됐나보다.
